Petre Kako Mshvenieradze, his Russian name Пётр Яковлевич Мшвениерадзе (Pyotr Yakovlevich Mshvenieradze) was born in Georgia on 24 April 1929, was a soviet and Georgian water polo player. Born in Tbilisi, Georgian SSR and died in Moscow.

He was the father of two polo players Giorgi and Nuzgari.

Blood in the Water Polo Match between Hungary and The United Socialist Soviet Republic (USSR):

In 1956 a polo match took place between Hungary and The United Socialist Soviet Republic (USSR), this match also got famous because of the violence that took place during the match. The match was a semi final match in 1956 at the Melbourne Summer Olympics Games and became famous as a result of the violence that took place throughout the match. The match ended abruptly after a Hungarian player was injured by a USSR team member who punched him so hard that he drew blood. The match ended 4-0, and Hungary won the match, as Hungary was leading before the fight. Since that day this match is famously known as the “Blood in the Water” Polo Match.

Petre Mshvenieradze time and time again was ridiculed because of his huge stature and his hairy body. His appearance is described as resembling that of a gorilla since he is tall, muscular, enormous in size, and is hairy. This also distinguishes him from other Polo players.

Petre Mshvenieradze has also won various medals for his country. At the 1960 Summer Olympics which was held in Rome, Italy. His team won a silver medal in the Olympic water polo tournament. He played in all seven matches held in Rome and scored a total of five goals.
