Legiit Review: Can This Online Marketplace Really Help Your Freelance Career?

Want to go straight to potential customers and get more orders for your freelancing services even without a website?

Not having any luck getting your freelance career off the ground from sites like Fiverr and Upwork?

If you’re asking yourself these questions, consider Legiit as a possible solution.

However, is the site as legit as the name suggests?

This Legiit Freelancer Marketplace review will look into the features offered to users and how freelancers profit from their services.

We’ll also check out things that make the Legiit platform much different—and arguably much better—than other freelance marketplaces.

By the end, freelancers should be able to decide whether to sign up for an account and sell their services here.

This Legiit review should also help people determine how to maximize their businesses using this freelancing marketplace.

Let’s get started!

What is Legiit Online Marketplace Platform?

Legiit provides a stage for people to promote their services to a wide range of people.

Instead of creating a website and marketing it themselves, freelancers can create an account and get help from doing everything here!

Founder Chris M. Walker initially tried running the same concept on a different site while still focusing on Superstar SEO.

However, the site kept crashing and getting hacked, so Chris had to put the idea on the shelf.

After he partnered with a development agency owner, Chris restarted his freelance marketplace in 2018.

From there, Legiit became a home for thousands of freelancers to ply their trade and make money online.

Going back to the site, it is divided into categories for different services that freelancers in the platform offers.

Hovering over each category unveils subcategories to help buyers zero in on specific services they need for their businesses.

Currently, the SEO services category is the site’s biggest and most popular, with over 6,000 services to choose from.

However, Legiit is more than just an SEO marketplace, as its non-SEO services are just as good.

This includes content writing services, web development, digital marketing, and others.

There’s also a brand new AI category where freelancers can sell their AI-generated art and writing services here.

This shows that Legiit strives to expand its categories to accommodate more freelancers on the platform.

On each category page, Legiit lists the top-rated services on top.

Each service shows its star rating and the number of reviewers to help buyers make an informed decision.

Clicking on the service lets users learn more about the offer. Once convinced, they can order the service or add it to their cart so they can shop for more.

How to Make Money on Legiit

If you’re a freelancer, you want to know how you can set up an account and try your luck selling your services on Legiit.

The good news is that creating multiple services to offer under your account is super easy.

Plus, there are lots of ways you can promote your services from within the platform, increasing their visibility and potentially improving your sales in the process.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves! Below are ways to showcase your skills and monetize them properly using the platform.

Creating Services

After creating an account, go to the Services page on your account dashboard and click “Create New Service.”

From here, you’ll need to fill out the following sections:

  • Overview – Enter the title and subtitle of your service, then select under which category and subcategory it will appear on the site.
  • Pricing – Create a maximum of three (3) packages and enter the information for each, like description, price, delivery dates, and others. You can enter here the maximum number of orders you can work on during a period. This way, you don’t get overloaded with orders and underdeliver with your work.
  • Description – Write a full-blown copy of your service that will appear on the page once published. Format it to make it easier to read for your prospects.
  • Requirements – Indicate what customers need to send you first for you to fulfill the order correctly.
  • Gallery – Upload the service thumbnail that will appear on the site and other photos like social proof, sample works, and others.
  • FAQs – Answer questions that people may have about your services here to help them make an informed decision.
  • Publish – Finalize everything before sending your created service out for review.

If you did all the steps above and provided correct information on all sections, expect the Legiit support team to approve your service immediately.

Managing Orders

Once you have orders coming in, you can process them from the Orders page. Here, you will have a list of the open and closed orders you have.

Clicking on any of the orders shows you its details and which stage it is in before completion.

Here’s a screenshot of a completed order, complete with a review from the client.

The page requires you and the client to go through the step-by-step order fulfillment process.

This enables you to complete and submit all the necessary details to the clients. At the same time, the client can review the work and leave comments before approving the order.

Tip: If you want more people to leave their reviews of your service, you can incentivize them by offering them a much lower amount of your service for their testimonials.

You can set this in the Pricing section when building or editing your service.

More reviews mean more social proof of your service’s high-quality work. This could result in more potential clients down the line!

Getting Paid

Before taking orders, you must set up your preferred payment method from your account settings.

From there, you can connect your PayPal, Payoneer, and Skrill accounts to your Legiit account so you can receive payments from any of the three payment gateways.

Once you’ve set this up correctly, you’re ready to receive the payments for completed orders.

However, you have to wait a few days before withdrawing your money from the platform to your account. From my experience, you must wait between 3-5 days before you can do this.

After withdrawing the payment to your account, it takes a few hours before it reflects on your account.

Another thing you must consider when withdrawing is processing fees.

According to #11 found in the Legiit terms, part of the payment you’ll be receiving from your order goes to the following:

  • 15% “Seller Fee” goes to the “Provider” (Legiit)
  • 3% processing fee for your payment gateway

For example, let’s say your SEO service costs $100. If you complete a single order, expect to only withdraw $82.45.

Here’s how the computation would go (please bear my math with me on this one):

  • Seller fee computation – 100 * 0.15 = 15, then 100 – 15 = 85
  • Processing fee computation – 85 * 0.03 = 2.55, then 85 – 2.55 = 82.45

The fees apply to everybody using Legiit to sell their services. That said, you must factor them into your service prices to get the most out of your services.

At the same time, you have to consider not charging too high of a price to still get client orders.

There’s also a Course Creation Too!

If you want to put your skills to good use aside from selling them as a service, you can create courses and sell them on Legiit. This enables you to teach people how to do your job for clients so they can do it too.

More importantly, you get paid for the course they’ll buy from it without you doing anything since the job’s already done!

Go to the Courses page to create a course and click “Create new course.”

From here, you must fill out the following:

  • Overview – Enter the course’s title and subtitle, as well as the category and subcategory it will appear on. Also, indicate the course’s lifetime access price. You can set the course to $0 if you want to offer it for free and use it as a lead magnet.
  • Description – Encourage people to sign up for your course by explaining what it’s about and why they should take it in this section. Also, include keywords you want to appear on when people search for it on the platform.
  • Requirements – List the things people will learn after taking your course.
  • Course section – Add the different course sections here. Upload the article or video for each section with a short description of each.
  • Publish – Finalize your course details before sending it over for approval by the Legiit team.

Creating a course is a great way for you to diversify your income or, as mentioned, use it as a lead magnet for your brand and services.

Promoting Your Services and Courses

You’ve created multiple services on Legiit. Now comes the hard part.

No matter how good your service page is, you won’t be able to attract orders unless you put yourself there for your target audience to see.

In other words, you need to develop and implement a marketing strategy to make people aware of your services so they can place their orders.

While you can promote your service on social media or paid ads, Legiit helps maximize your exposure on the platform to get its users to view your services.

However, keep in mind that most of the solutions they’re offering are not free. So you have to allot a budget to help you get started promoting your service on Legiit properly.

Let’s look at each one:

Boost Services option

This shows your service on top of your chosen relevant categories and subcategories.

This option offers different ways to how, where, and how long you want your service to appear on these sections of the site.

For instance, showing your service on the homepage for more than a day will be much more expensive than featuring it in your subcategory for a day.

There’s no right or wrong answer to how you want to proceed with your campaign. In this case, best to test the results of different campaigns to see which works best.

Legiit Affiliate Program

The way the Legiit Affiliate Program works is that people can promote your services on your behalf. In exchange, they will earn a commission for every successful sale they refer to your service.

To do this, they need to get the Legiit affiliate link from your page and share it with others.

By default, the affiliate link is available for people to grab and promote. However, you can turn off the Legiit Affiliate Platform on your page.

Some users do this because they don’t want people to take home a part of their earnings, considering that they have the seller and transaction fees to worry about.

But if you need extra help to promote your services, encouraging affiliates to do your bidding could be a good idea.

Create service coupons

Let’s say you’re launching a brand-new service and want to get it on the right track. You can create a discount code buyers can use to save money when purchasing your service.

You can enter the custom code, determine the maximum number of buyers who can use it, and determine when the coupon codes expire.

You can control how buyers use the coupons. For instance, you can allow or forbid buyers from combining your services with others or limit the number of people who can see your discount codes.

You can also create coupons for all services if you launch a service-wide discount. You can do this during the holidays or special occasions to maximize sales.

Promote on Legiit Facebook Groups

While you can try and market your services on other Facebook groups, not all moderators will approve your posts due to their promotional nature.

So, if there’s a group on the platform that encourages this behavior, it’s the Legiit Official Facebook Group.

With almost 15,000 members, the Legiit Facebook group lets you broadcast your latest services, promos, and offers to prospects and like-minded people who will help spread your message.

Submit a Guest Post

Legiit wants its freelancers to succeed in that it allows them to submit a guest post to be published on the site’s blog section.

The submissions undergo a vetting process to ensure that they are compliant with the standards and guidelines set for the site.

Just as important, the post needs to be about the freelancers’ area of expertise with links to their profiles and services. Doing this lets readers learn more about their offers, which could turn them into clients and customers!

Once the site publishes the post, it can be promoted on Legiit’s Facebook group and other relevant social channels for maximum exposure.

Other Cool Features

At first glance, you’d think there isn’t much that separates Legiit from other platforms.

However, if you look under the hood, there’s so much more than this platform offers for freelancers and customers looking to outsource services of their business to others.

For this reason, let’s check out the other things that make Legiit unique from other marketplaces:

Legiit+ Subscription

To get the most out of Legiit as freelancers, you may want to get a premium Legiit+ subscription.

For $27/month, you can enjoy additional features not available to free users, including:

  • Selling analytics – Know how many people are looking at your services and have ordered them over time. This helps you understand your best and underperforming services, giving you insights on how to maintain or improve their performances.
  • Volume discounts – Incentivize people to order more of your services by offering them discounts on bulk orders.
  • Canned replies – Create pre-made replies to the most common questions you receive from prospects to save you time from typing and sending them out.
  • Bundled services – Group similar services together and offer them to people at lower prices to encourage more sales.
  • Disable affiliate – Prevent users from making affiliate earnings off your services. This is useful for branding and quality control purposes, as you don’t want just anybody promoting your services.
  • Advertising discounts – Save up on promotional campaigns you plan on launching via Legiit.
  • Sub-user accounts – For brands, you can encourage your employees to create service pages for their offers to help generate more sales for your business.

Taking all the features above to your advantage can maximize your Legiit account and potentially help generate more sales for your services!

Welcome to the Future Done Dashboard

Most successful business owners emphasize the value of results by getting things done the right.

Legiit believes in this mantra as well, which is why it has its Welcome to the Future Done feature available to users.

It allows you to better understand your client sites (and even your own). The feature then tells you how to help grow their traffic and overall performance.

Aside from being free (BANG!), you can add as many client sites as you want, so know what needs to be done and how you can do it (BANG BANG!)

To do this, you must click on the blue Dashboard button on the site and click “Add New Campaign.”

On the next page, you need to indicate the site’s URL, additional information, and goals you want to achieve for the website.

Examples include generating more sales or increasing your keyword positions on Google search result pages.

Next, you must connect Legiit with third-party integrations such as Google Analytics.

This helps supply the site with data that it can use to provide you with actionable insights on improving your site.

Once you’ve connected your GA account with Legiit, give the site time to analyze and evaluate your website for a report, which should look similar to the one below:

Even if you didn’t connect with your GA account, Legiit collects readily available data that you can analyze on the dashboard, such as:

  • Uptime – Lets you know if your site experienced downtime or not in the past 24 hours.
  • Keywords – Shows your SERP rankings for your target keywords—you don’t need to use a rank tracking tool!
  • On-Page SEO – Uses Audiit from within the dashboard to see how optimized your site pages are for their respective keywords.
  • Backlinks – Lists your current backlinks, their statuses (live or lost), anchor text, and whether they’re dofollow or nofollow.

From here, you can see how your website is performing and make the necessary improvements to it.

Now, this is where things get interesting:

If you scroll down the page, you will see Legiit services you should try to help improve your site performance based on the goals you entered.

For instance, if you want to improve the site’s SEO, expect to see more SEO services in this section!

This is a great way for you to get help from other Legiit freelancers to boost your client site’s performance, resulting in more revenue on your end!

Jobs Section

For business owners, you can create a job opening for Legiit freelancers to apply for.

This is a good feature if you can’t find services that can’t fulfill your unique specifications.

At the same time, instead of reaching out to freelancers, you get them to send a proposal to your job opening. From here, filtering their services should be much easier.
