Dr. Ildaura Murillo-Rohde was a Panamanian psychiatric nurse. She was born on 6th September in 1920. Dr ildaura murillo had her primary studies in Panama. Ildaura murillo rohde moved to the United States of America when she was just 25 years old. Ildaura murillo started her professional life when she did diploma in nursing school of medical and surgical in 1948. Dr. Ildaura Murillo-Rohde was nearly 90 years old but unfortunately she died on September 5th in 2010 just one day before her 90th birthday.

After completing her diploma in nursing, later on Dr. Ildaura Murillo-Rohde earned a psychiatrist nursing and teaching degree of bachelors from a Colombian university. She had MA, Med and PhD degrees too. She was a first Panamanian
Nurse who earned a PhD degree from New York university in the early nineteen seventies.

Dr. Ildaura Murillo-Rohde was an excellent Panamanian Nursing professional who overstepped her commitments and academic projection in favor of the development of latino nursing. Dr. Ildaura Murillo-Rohde’s nursing profession started in a generally Hispanic populated city of San Antonio, Texas. She observed that there were not many Hispanic attendants for the local area.
Dr Ildaura noticed that no latina nurses were in the academic settings or in research work or in public policy making, and then Dr. Ildaura Murillo-Rohde thought to make the change for the Hispanic community in United States of America.
Dr. Ildaura Murillo-Rohde has always worked for the benefits of Latinos in the united states of America. After entering in the nursing career Dr. Ildaura Murillo-Rohde felt that American nursing associations were not meeting the needs of latins nurses who were working in different health departments of the united states of America also she was an active member of the American nurses association. In 1975 Dr. Ildaura Murillo-Rohde founded National Association of Hispanic nurses. Dr. Ildaura Murillo-Rohde has worked a lot for the betterment of Panamanian refugees and her prime focus was better education for them.Her vision was to help Latinas in tying down their schooling to offer support to their local area and in aiding themselves.
Dr. Ildaura Murillo-Rohde was WHO’s (world health organization) advisor to the Taiwan’s government and was all-time UNICEF representative to the International federation of women business. In 1994 Dr. Ildaura Murillo-Rohde got living legend title by the American nursing academy.
In the honor of Dr. Ildaura Murillo-Rohde “National Association of Hispanic Nurses” gives scholarships and education excellence awards.
