Jerry Lawson Game
Jerry Lawson was an engineer who worked at Fairchild Semiconductor in the early 1970s. At this time, new microprocessor chips were just beginning to be used in homes and businesses. Lawson thought that these programmable microchips could be used to make video game consoles for homes, similar to the arcade cabinets that were popular at that time.
However, he realized that people would get bored if they could only play the same game over and over on a console. So Lawson came up with the innovative idea of developing games on interchangeable cartridges that could be put into a console. This would allow many new games to be made and sold separately, keeping people interested in both the games and consoles.
